1. Go to Ledger.com/start
Begin by visiting the official setup page: Ledger.com/start. This is the only authorized source for Ledger setup instructions and downloads. Avoid using search engine ads or third-party links to prevent phishing attempts.
2. Download and Install Ledger Live
Ledger Live is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. Download the latest version directly from Ledger.com/start. Once installed, open the app and follow the on-screen steps to set up your new device.
- Choose “Set up a new device.”
- Follow the prompts to initialize your Ledger Nano.
- Set a secure PIN code known only to you.
3. Write Down Your Recovery Phrase
During setup, you will receive a 24-word recovery phrase. This phrase is the only backup of your private keys. Write it down on the recovery sheet provided with your Ledger device and store it in a safe, offline location. Never take photos, share it online, or store it digitally.
Important: Ledger will never ask for your recovery phrase. If anyone does, it’s a scam.
4. Install Apps and Add Accounts
Once your device is initialized, use Ledger Live to install apps for the cryptocurrencies you want to manage — such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and more. Then, create accounts for each currency to view balances and make transactions securely.
5. Secure and Manage Your Crypto
Ledger Live allows you to buy, sell, stake, and swap cryptocurrencies directly from your wallet while keeping full control of your private keys. You can monitor your portfolio, track prices, and grow your digital assets in one intuitive dashboard.
